Understanding the warning signs of a scam can help protect you and your information.

As we transition from myGovID to myID, you do not need to set up a new myID or reconfirm your details. If you've been prompted to go to a website to do this, it’s a scam.

Online services you can use

Find government online services you can access with myID, and the minimum identity strength for each service.

Identity strength

Each online service has a minimum required identity strength. 

To access an online service, your myID must have the required identity strength or higher. 

There are three identity strength levels:

  1. Basic identity strength

  2. Standard identity strength

  3. Strong identity strength

How to set up myID

Download the myID app, enter your details and choose your identity strength.

Before you start

To set up your myID, you need:

  • a smart device – the myID app is compatible with most smart devices, such as smart phones, and is only available from the Apple App Store or Google Play
  • a personal email address – as it’s your personal Digital ID, your ID documents will be linked to the email you choose.

How to use myID

Use your myID to prove who you are when accessing government online services.

Once you’ve set up your myID, you can use it to access government online services without verifying your ID each time or remembering passwords for each service.

Generally, to access an online service using your myID:
